The Emancipation Of Mimi是Mariah经历事业低谷后重回巅峰的专辑。在发行首周，该专辑就成为Billboard专辑榜冠军，在美国本土销量也达到了404,000张。而之前的最好成绩也不过是Butterfly专辑的235,000张。
专辑销量的回归带给Mariah的喜悦仅仅是一个开始。专辑中陆续产生了很多优秀的作品，"It's Like That"等曲目相继在Billboard各个榜单登顶。"We Belong Together"更是在Billboard单曲榜上荣耀冠军，并持续长达14周，成为Mariah继One Sweet Day之后在该榜的第二支冠军位置超过10周的作品。
在2005年11月，Island Def Jam发行了该专辑的白金纪念版，收录四首新歌，以纪念Mariah该专辑所取得的好成绩，其中新作品"Don't
Forget About Us"趁胜追击，再次在Billboard单曲榜获得冠军，为Mariah追平了猫王在该榜拥有冠军单曲数量的记录，仅次于批头四，成为所有歌手里面拥有冠军单曲数量第二多的歌手，也是女歌手里面数量最多的，而且远远的拉开了与其他女歌手的距离。
因为该专辑，Mariah获得了相当多的奖项，包括美国音乐奖和Billboard音乐奖等。更在2005年底获得八项Grammy音乐奖提名，从乐评到歌迷都印证了Mariah在2005年所取得的巨大成功。
专辑除普通版本外，还推出特别封面的限量版。封面如右图所示。
白金纪念专辑
Island Def Jam在Mariah取得很好的销售成绩之后发行了白金纪念专辑，收录四首新作，包括冠军歌曲"Don't Forget About Us"，个别版本的专辑也附加了一张DVD，收录Mariah的四首MV。
